I got my first copyright strike today.
We have disabled the following material as a result of a third-party notification from Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. claiming that this material is infringing:
Rega P25 plays 'Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix - Live
Please Note: Repeat incidents of copyright infringement will result in the deletion of your account and all videos uploaded to that account. In order to prevent this from happening, please delete any videos to which you do not own the rights, and refrain from uploading additional videos that infringe on the copyrights of others. If one of your postings has been misidentified as infringing, you may submit a counter-notification. Information about this process is in our Help Center.
Please note that under Section 512(f) of the Copyright Act, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material was disabled due to mistake or misidentification may be liable for damages.

This is the main reason why I'm hesitant to upload any more vinyl videos on YouTube.
Now for a small rant.
Google (which owns YouTube) is becoming the copyright 'gestapo' of the internet. Google's takeover of YouTube ruined it, IMHO.
My Hendrix video did have a link to Amazon and iTunes to purchase the song, so now I know that allowing YouTube to make money by selling the music is not a guarantee that years later, they will pull the plug on the video. The copyright holders would rather shoot themselves in the foot and file a complaint to remove a video then allow people to enjoy it and maybe buy the song
because of the video.
Notice how the copyright holder is an LLC? It's a 'limited liability company'; meaning they can come after you personally, but they are exempt. 'Experience Hendrix, LLC' is an entity created by Jimi Hendrix's father in 1995 so he can milk his sons legacy for all it's worth. Al died in 2002, yet the bottom feeders of his family continue to reap the financial rewards. For decades, the Hendrix estate was mired in lawsuits and litigation while his family plucked at the remains like vultures.
Janie Hendrix, Jimi's sister, is the current CEO of Experience Hendrix, LLC. When Jimi was still alive, she didn't want anything to do with him. After he died, she flew in to devour what she could - knowing she was sitting on a goldmine because of her namesake. I'm sure she'll find her way to my tiny website, read this post and come after me; all while hiding behind her blood sucking LLC.
Maybe I should start an empty, fictitious, LLC so I can hide behind it too?
Also, have you noticed how YouTube is pushing for users to use their real name for their channels? How about the push to link your Google+ account with YouTube and Facebook? I think the only reason why is because it makes it easier for copyright holders to find out who you are and give them as much information as possible. No more anonymity, no more privacy. Plus, it makes it easier for YouTube to deny users who attempt to open a new channel after they are banned. You can't hide from Big Brother.
I will say this - having lived for almost half a century, I can unequivocally say that each passing day; the world is getting worse, not better. Any bright spot that emerges is quickly covered by ten dark spots.
Ok, that's enough ranting for now.
