On a recent trip to the record shop, I found a decent copy of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' as a 33rpm 12" single. The song is cut 'loud and hot' and my Zyx Omega-G had a hard time tracking the kick drum, so I thought I'd try my Denon DP-52F turntable with a DL-103D cartridge. The 103D had no problem tracking the kick drum without distorting.
Here's a sample:
Turntable | : Denon DP-52F |
Cartridge | : Denon DL-103D |
Pre-amp | : Audio Research PH5 |
Recorder | : Korg MR-2000S |
I haven't listened to the 103D in a while and I was surprised how nice it sounded.
