I'm in the process of ripping all of my CD's to FLAC files and I was wondering what software I should use to get bit-perfect copies. I was using Easy CD-Extractor for a number of years, but after doing some testing, it seems like the error correction is uses isn't reliable. Some of the tracks it ripped had clicks - even with all of the error correction options turned on.  :(

Next, I tried Exact Audio Copy; but it has a few problems dealing with Windows 7. I can get around the problems and get it to work; and so far, it has the best audio quality and error correction, but it's a pain to use.

Is there any other good CD ripping programs out there that can make bit-perfect rips? Does anyone have experience with dBpoweramp? Is it worth buying?

I use EAC / Win 7 myself so i never checked out dbpoweramp.
But it gets good reviews, so should i ever run into problems with EAC i will try it.

what problems do you have running EAC under 7?

When I select the option for EAC to ask for the location to write the files to, it comes up with the error message:

[attach=2]

The work around is to specify where the files will be written instead of asking for a location. Some people mentioned that it has something to do with compatibility with Windows visual themes, but even if I disable the visual themes - or run it in Windows XP compatibility mode - it stills crashes.

Other than that, the audio file rips seem to be 100% perfect.

i run v0.99 pre-beta fine on win7 - 64bit home premium.
one of the major annoyances with PCs, something works on one machine and it's doesn't on another for no apparent reason.

did you try to run it as administrator?  (right click, run as administrator)
